Strontium ranelate inhibits alveolar bone resorption in diabetic rats with periodontitis by regulating JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway

Purpose: To investigate the inhibitory effect of strontium ranelate on alveolar bone resorption in diabetic rats with periodontitis, and mechanism involved.Methods: Forty-five Sprague-Dawley (SD) were allocated to 3 groups, viz, control, periodontitis + groups. Diabetes was induced via i.v. administration streptozotocin (STZ) (45 mg/kg). Then, a rat model established by ligating neck upper left first molar each 0.4-mm orthodontic ligation wire. Strontium or normal saline administered gavage. Four weeks later, various indicators assessed.Results: There significantly higher expression level Mir-21 periodontal tissue than control rats. In contrast, this parameter lower tissues group, while translations JAK2 STAT3 genes (p < 0.05). there levels group 0.05).Conclusion: increases miR-21 activates JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway, thereby inhibiting alveolus diabetes/periodontitis.
